In areas of social disadvantage, upwards of 50% of children start school with a Speech Language and Communication Need (SLCN). These children often struggle to listen, to learn to read and write, and to behave appropriately – all things which impact on their ability to engage in the classroom and do well at school.

Since 2012, SHINE has been supporting Speech Bubbles, a drama programme that supports young children with communication needs. We’re excited to announce that Speech Bubbles has been shortlisted for the Lloyds Bank, Social Entrepreneur of the Year Award and we need your votes to help them win the £10,000 first prize!
