At SHINE, we believe all children should have the chance to succeed at school, no matter what their economic background or personal circumstances. A core element of all our programmes is ensuring we utilise creative and innovative solutions, helping young people to engage in their education and inspiring them to achieve their full potential. That’s why we were excited when the opportunity came up to show some of our Teachers ways of integrating LEGO and play-based learning techniques into SHINE’s programmes.

We recently ran a workshop with LEGO for 20 SHINE Teachers in London. Through the workshop, Teachers were shown new techniques for inspiring children to learn through play and bringing creativity into the classroom. Through this, children will develop their core academic skills including numeracy, computing, communication and literacy.

We are now exploring potential opportunities with LEGO to support SHINE’s projects further. We’re excited to see how this progresses over the coming months, and our Teachers are excited too:

“It was so great to meet you again at the LEGO training session. Thank you so much for the ideas and information! Thanks so much for all of your help and I look forward to working with you, I know the kids are so excited!”

Anna Charalambous, The Hyde School

“Many thanks for inviting me to the LEGO course on Thursday. I had a great time and now have loads of new ideas for my students.”

Vicky Standing, Folkestone Academy

We’d like to express our thanks to LEGO for working with SHINE, and for helping hundreds of children fulfil their full potential.
