Colin Hegarty, founder of HegartyMaths and one of the winners of  Let Teachers SHINE in 2012, has this week been awarded another prestigious accolade; a Pearson Teaching Award.

Colin was presented with his award by David Cameron at Number 10 Downing Street, and was then officially awarded it in a spectacular event held at London’s Guildhall on Sunday 26th October, Colin picked up his award for The Outstanding Use of Technology in Education, as well as an overall Golden Plato Award.

By day, Colin is an inspirational maths teacher at Preston Manor School in North West London. By night, he is the brains behind HegartyMaths, an online platform that provides free online videos to students studying KS3, GCSE and A-Level Maths. Since SHINE supported first backed him in 2012, Colin’s videos have helped thousands of pupils around the world.

We are very proud to work with Colin and it is fantastic to see him getting the recognition he so clearly deserves. We would like to join Pearson in toasting his wonderful achievements to date and wish him all the best for the next exciting chapter in his project.
