Serious Fun on Saturdays @ Forest School

The Forest School takes pride in academic success whilst ensuring that their extensive extra-curricular activities are available to all. Situated in North London and with strong links to the local community, this is a vibrant place to study and an exceptional location for a Serious Fun project.
The programme
- The Forest School will run an Emerging Scholars project which will benefit between 30 and 80 state school girls each year.
- The programme will target gifted girls from three state secondary schools in nearby Newham.
- Ten monthly Saturday sessions will cover diverse topics from outside the typical curriculum. It will focus especially on developing critical thinking and creative skills through workshops and small teaching groups.
- Classes will be led by teachers from both sectors and supported by peer mentors.
- The aim of the programme is to improve aspirations, achievement and improve attitudes to learning.
- The programme will be governed by the Heads of the four participating schools.
The funding
£42,746 over three years. This will contribute to the delivery costs such as transport, equipment and staff pay.
