The grant recipient

Farnborough Hill is a Roman Catholic day school for girls. It is located on a 60 acre site in the town of Farnborough, Hampshire. Its most recent Independent Schools Inspectorate report judged the school to be providing good quality education, outstanding pastoral care, academic excellence and giving pupils a sense of fun and enjoyment in learning.

The programme

  • for up to 25 year 5 students from four primary schools located in areas of multiple deprivation, including areas with a high percentage of Nepali families
  • 12 Saturday morning sessions across many subject areas including core subjects, drama, Design & Technology and Art
  • teaching sessions will be led by Farnborough Hill staff, assisted by mentors from year eleven or the sixth form
  • the programme theme will be ‘Good Words’ and will specifically encourage students to develop their vocabulary and their ability to express themselves

The funding

SHINE has made a grant for development and running costs. Farnborough Hill is also providing in-kind and financial support for the programme.
