SHINE on Windsor
On one Sunday each September, thousands of people hit Windsor Great Park to raise money for charity, or just to have a fun day out with their families and friends.
SHINE regularly fields a team for the Windsor Half Marathon and, like the children we support through our projects, our runners have a proud tradition of training, improvement and achievement. In 2005 the SHINE on Windsor came fourth in its class; the following year, we came third. In 2008, we fielded our largest team ever, while in 2009, almost every runner completed the race in less than two hours. And last year, Windsor marked the very first (and quite possibly the last) time that some in our team ever ran such a distance!
Take the money and run
As you can see, athletes of all abilities, novice and experienced, have taken part in the past and we warmly welcome new faces for the future. All you need is enthusiasm - and sponsorship! Each year has seen the SHINE on Windsor team raise thousands of pounds: money that is now helping hundreds of children stay the course and improve their own personal bests at school.
The 2011 Windsor Half Marathon
This year’s race took place on Sunday 25 September and, once again, the SHINE on Windsor team was out in full force.
A huge thanks to everyone who took part especially for your time, energy, enthusiasm and commitment. Once again we were able to raise a considerable amount for the projects we fund.
One of our runners, Ling Luong, enjoyed it so much she has already signed up for next year. Ling said ‘It was a challenging run but well worth doing. I have raised £255 so far and a colleague has promised to match the final amount I raise. It was a great experience and I and a couple of my friends want to run again next year’.

It has just been confirmed that next year’s race will take place on Sunday 7th October 2012.
Faster, Higher, Stronger
2012 is Olympics year and we are hoping to field our largest team yet. On the day itself, we'll provide superb support at our legendary hospitality tent, offering tip-top pit-stop facilities of drinks and snacks to boost your energy levels (and those of any long-suffering friends or family that you drag along). And, of course, you'll get a free 'SHINE on Windsor' T-shirt, so what's not to like?
We are planning on making next year’s race experience even more enjoyable for our runners so please check back regularly to keep up to date on our plans to support you all the way.
