SHINE on Saturday @ Clapham and Lark Hall
The grant recipient
The Clapham and Lark Hall collaborative is made up of five primary schools in north Lambeth who are keen to provide opportunities for children with little access to arts and cultural activities. The collaborative serves several large council estates. Nearly 60% of children at the host school are eligible for free school meals and 90% come from minority ethnic backgrounds.
The programme
SHINE @ Clapham and Lark Hall is for 60 students in years 4, 5 and 6 (8-11 years old). It targets students who are eligible for free school meals and have the potential of achieving the level expected for their age at the end of primary school but who are unlikely to do so without additional support.
Latest results
- SHINE students from the host school outperformed their year group in years 4, 5 and 6
- over half the students made expected progress or better (2 sublevels) in both literacy and numeracy
- almost 70% progressed by 2 sublevels or more in reading

SHINE has made a grant to contribute to the set up and running costs of this project. We are delighted to be co-funding this project with the Walcot Foundation
